Waitakere Ranges to Auckland, New Zealand

It was getting quite late by the time we decided to stop for the night at one of the many campsites provided in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. The brochures point out the individual locations and details of campervan access and overnight camping policies. Many of the sites are free like our campsite 29 at Piha Rest Area. They lock out access at night so get there before 7pm - this means you don't have to worry about car loads of people arriving there for late night drink parties.
